Position Summary:
NB Social Pediatrics is seeking a skilled and compassionate leader to serve as Interim Executive Director during a 12-month parental leave. The Interim ED will provide continuity of leadership and oversee day-to-day operations to ensure the organization continues to thrive in its mission: improving the health and well-being of children and families living in poverty and other challenging circumstances.
Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Interim ED will guide ongoing programs, support staff, maintain key partnerships, steward financial and fundraising activities, and uphold the organization's strategic priorities. This role requires a collaborative, steady, and mission-driven leader capable of managing both operational needs and longer-term initiatives during this temporary leadership period.
Key Responsibilities:
- Program Leadership: Ensure the effective delivery, evaluation, and ongoing refinement of all programs and services, including allied clinical supports such as onsite therapeutic services and navigation.
- Staff Support and Management: Provide supervision, direction, and mentorship to staff; maintain a positive, inclusive, and well-functioning workplace during the interim period.
- Community and Stakeholder Engagement: Sustain strong relationships with clients, partners, volunteers, community agencies, and government stakeholders to promote collaboration and continuity.
- Advocacy and Public Relations: Serve as a key spokesperson for NB Social Pediatrics; represent the organization publicly and maintain consistent, mission-aligned communication.
- Strategic Continuity: Maintain momentum on the organization's existing strategic priorities and performance indicators, ensuring alignment between operations and long-term goals.
- Fundraising and Development: Lead ongoing fundraising activities, including donor relations, grant writing, and special initiatives to support financial sustainability.
- Financial Management: Oversee budgeting, financial monitoring, and compliance with reporting obligations; work closely with the Board Treasurer to ensure responsible financial stewardship.
- Board Collaboration: Provide regular updates to the Board, seek guidance on major decisions, and support governance activities throughout the interim period.
- Working occasional evenings and weekends to attend board meetings and represent NBSP at different fundraisers/other events in the community.
Qualifications and Assets:
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (master's degree preferred)
- Minimum of 3 years' experience in management or a related leadership role
- Minimum of 3 years' experience working in the non-profit sector
- Experience in clinical, community-based frontline services
- Demonstrated leadership and strategic thinking abilities
- Strong budgeting and financial management skills
- Experience with fundraising, including donor relations and grant writing
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and relationship-building skills
- Ability to collaborate effectively with diverse partners, staff, and stakeholders
