The mission of Partners for Youth is to engage youth facing challenges and obstacles in their lives to become capable, connected and contributing members of their communities. PFY achieves its mission through innovative programs and services which promote experiential learning in safe, supportive and rewarding environments, in collaboration with public, private and not for profit partners.
Partners for Youth is seeking a fulltime Project Coordinator to support the delivery of Youth Works. The Youth Works project seeks to help current and former youth in care, at risk youth, youth facing mental health challenges and Indigenous youth who feel lost and overwhelmed when thinking of their career and employment future. It is intended primarily for youth who will soon be entering adulthood and may require additional support to help guide them to a more successful future. Youth Works is an innovative career development and employment project. Our Youth Works program begins with self-concepts, getting to know yourself and accepting who you are components in all program delivery. We address the current needs and struggles of youth participants such as poverty, racism, substance abuse disorders, mental illness, drug/sex trades and criminality. All of our programming is youth-lead and participant-centered. Youth Works staff offer resume clinics, social media profiling, information workshops, culturally enriched sessions, individual coaching, one-on-one mentoring, role-modeling and peer supported environments.
Initial 1-year term with possibility of renewal.
This is a key position with Partners for Youth Inc. The position is a front line staff position with additional roles and responsibilities related to program development and program logistics.
Qualifications:
Community College, undergraduate degree in related field, preference given to background in career counselling, guidance/counselling and employment related education and social work.
Employment experience in this field
Proof of eligibility to work in Canada
Experience working with youth and young adults
Flexibility, willingness to help in all aspects of the organization
Devoted, determined, responsible, enthusiastic, creative and sensitive team player
Specific certifications related to the position and the organization such as first aid, CPR, workplace health and safety, and others related to the specific area of employment
Valid Class 5 driver's license, the willingness and flexibility to travel
Clean Criminal Record with vulnerable Sector Check and Social Development Record check
Bilingualism an asset
Responsibilities:
Work as part of a collaborative team
Development and delivery of the Youth Works project with groups and individuals in various settings
Career counselling, educational support and employment skill development with youth
Meeting specific measurable outcomes as part of the project workplan
Provide support, advocacy & mentorship to Youth Works program participants
Promote Youth Works and other wrap around related services with current and former youth in care
Record keeping and report preparation
Confidentiality
Ability to work flexible hours - some evenings and weekends required
Risk management
Other responsibilities as assigned by the Director.
