We are seeking a Sr. Compensation Specialist within our Corporate Division who is a seasoned compensation professional, logical in their approach, numbers savvy, with the demonstrated ability to effectively communicate to employees, senior management, and the Board of Directors with confidence. This is a key position within Human Resources and the successful candidate will demonstrate high integrity, a mature approach to work assignments and the ability to build trust and strong working relationships throughout the organization.
Key functions include:
• Researching, benchmarking, and recommending plan design and policy changes related to NB Power's Total Rewards programs.
• Supporting the strategic development and execution of complex non-union and union compensation programs and initiatives at NB Power.
• Using the Hay Job Evaluation Methodology, leading and facilitating job evaluation, presenting recommendations, and providing advice on compensation policies and issues to executive, management, staff and the union.
Our ideal teammate will have:
• Post-secondary education in Business Administration, Human Resources or the equivalent in education and experience.
• At least six years of demonstrated experience working in compensation within a union and non-unionized environment that includes one or more of the following: conducting job evaluations, creating, administering, and influencing compensation policies, designing compensation structures, designing compensation surveys, participating in and interpreting the results of compensation surveys and supporting union contract negotiations with compensation market research
• The ability to manage multiple requests in a high volume, fast-paced environment, to work under pressure, to respond to requests in a timely manner and exceed clients' expectations by providing excellent customer service are critical attributes for success in this role
• A strong attention to detail, the ability to analyze data, problem solve, prioritize work, meet deadlines
• Excellent presentation and writing skills
• Excellent Microsoft Excel skills and a strong proficiency with other MS Office software
• Professional designations such as Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) or Chartered Professional in Human Resources (CHRP), and previous training in the Hay Job Evaluation Methodology would be considered assets
If a suitable candidate with all the identified criteria cannot be found, we may consider applicants for appointment at a different classification level based on their experience and qualifications.
An equivalent combination of training and experience may be considered. Subject to competition response, the minimum qualifications may be modified.
An Eligibility List generated from this competition may be used to fill future vacancies at the same level within a period of up to 12 months.
