Service New Brunswick is seeking a skilled and motivated individual to join the Infrastructure Operations Branch as a Data Centre Operator. This role is part of a dynamic team responsible for the continuous development, operation, and support of data centre infrastructure for the Government of New Brunswick.
Key Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Manager of the Data Centre and Asset Management Services Team, you will:
- Provide service to SNB data centre clients, ensuring alignment with the SNB shared-services delivery model.
- Deliver operational support for critical infrastructure including:
- Air conditioning systems (HVAC, CRAC).
- Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) devices.
- Structured data cabling systems.
- Power distribution systems, including 3-phase electrical configurations.
- Environmental monitoring and physical security systems.
- Install, maintain, and support data centre physical hardware such as storage arrays, servers, and network equipment.
- Troubleshoot and resolve hardware and infrastructure issues, engaging internal or external resources as needed.
- Monitor data centre performance and recommend improvements.
- Respond to incidents and service requests, coordinating resolution efforts.
- Act as a technical resource on data centre-related projects and initiatives.
- Maintain accurate inventory and CMDB records for all data centre infrastructure assets.
- Document and update systems, processes, and procedures.
- Apply ITIL methodologies including Change, Incident, and Problem Management.
- Participate in an after-hours on-call support rotation.
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS: University degree in Computer Science OR a college diploma in Information Technology and two (2) years of related experience.
Subject to the response to this competition, an equivalent combination of training and experience may be considered, or the required years of experience may be increased.
Written and spoken competence in English is required.

ASSET QUALIFICATIONS: Preference may be given to candidates who demonstrate they have training or experience in one or more of the following areas:
- Structured data cabling systems
- Data centre cooling systems
- Data centre utility and backup power distribution systems
- Data centre cabinet and cable management systems
- Racking, cabling and powering Enterprise equipment.
- ITIL Process and Technical documentation
Subject to the response to this competition, candidates may be required to demonstrate on their application one or more of the asset qualifications in addition to the essential qualifications in order to be given further consideration.
OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS: This position requires flexibility in working hours, which includes evenings and weekends and requires the successful candidate to carry a cell phone to be on call outside of normal work hours.
Candidates will be required to undergo a Criminal History Clearance prior to appointment and must be willing to obtain a security clearance. A 10-year residency in Canada is required for security clearance.

Salary: $44,070- $62,620 annually – Pay Band 3 - Management and Non-Union Pay Plan
