The Beaverbrook Art Gallery is seeking a dynamic and visionary Manager of Education and Public Programs to lead our Art Education initiatives and public engagement activities. In this key leadership role, you will design and deliver innovative, inclusive, and bilingual programs that connect people to art, inspire creativity, and foster life-long learning in an art museum setting.

About the Role

You will oversee six main program areas:

  • Education Program - Curriculum-based tours, activities, and resources for public, private, and home-school audiences.
  • Volunteer Guide Program - Training and engagement of volunteer guides who interpret exhibitions and collections.
  • Exhibition-Related Programming - Artist talks, curator tours, workshops, and other exhibition-specific activities.
  • Family Programming - Open Studio, Art for Tots, family workshops, and multi-generational activities.
  • Engagement Events - Art After Hours, art parties, and thematic fundraisers.
  • Strategic Initiatives - Engagement with community partners and funders.

You will also:

  • Build strong partnerships with schools, Indigenous communities, cultural groups, and post-secondary institutions.
  • Develop programs in response to grant and sponsorship opportunities, demonstrating flexibility and innovation.
  • Work with Institutional Advancement to optimize pricing and capitalize on revenue-generating opportunities.
  • Leverage partnerships to manage resources sustainably and reduce costs through shared initiatives.
  • Ensure programs are inclusive, accessible, and offered in both official languages.

About You

You are a collaborative leader with a passion for art education and community engagement. You thrive on designing meaningful visitor experiences, forging partnerships, and building programs from the ground up.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Art Education, Art History, Museum Studies, Education, or related field (Master's an asset).
  • 4+ years' experience in art museum education or public programming, with at least 1 year in a leadership role.
  • Strong program development, budget management, and team leadership skills.
  • Proficiency in English; bilingualism (English/French) strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of current best practices in museum education, accessibility, and community engagement.
  • Equivalent combinations of relevant skills, education, and experience will be considered. Candidates with diverse experiences and a commitment to art education are encouraged to apply.
