Position: Casual Patient Watch Security Guard
Site: Various Health Care Sites within St. John's
Averaging Agreement: Overtime as per CBA
Hours: Hours may vary site to site (example Days, Nights, Rotating Shifts)
Payrate: $ 19.00/hour

Key responsibilities:
- Provide continuous observation of assigned patients to ensure safety and prevent self-harm or injury.
- Monitor and report any unusual behavior, incidents, or safety concerns to clinical and security staff.
- Maintain a respectful and non-invasive presence while observing patients.
- Work closely with healthcare professionals, following facility protocols and directions.
- De-escalate situations calmly and appropriately using non-violent crisis intervention techniques.
- Document observations and incidents accurately and in a timely manner.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations at all times.
Prerequisites:
- Clean Letter of Conduct/VSC
- Valid First Aid & CPR Level C from CSA Approved provider.
- Tuberculosis (TB) Screening: All healthcare workers must undergo assessment for tuberculosis.
- Vaccination Documentation: Proof of completion of the full series of childhood/primary vaccinations is required.
- Tdap Vaccine: One dose of Tetanus, Diphtheria, and Acellular Pertussis (Tdap) vaccine is required upon reaching 18 years of age.
- Booster Requirement: A booster dose of tetanus toxoid-reduced diphtheria toxoid (Tdap) is required every 10 years
- English (oral and written) fluency is a must
- Previous experience in security or a related field preferred.
- Strong interpersonal and conflict-resolution skills.
- Ability to stay alert and attentive for extended periods.
- Ability to work in high-stress environments and remain composed under pressure.
- Ability to stand or sit for long periods and respond quickly in emergency situations.
- Legally authorized to work in Canada
- Must be able to provide certifications in Management of Aggressive Behaviour (MOAB)
- Applicants lacking these certification can opt into Paladin's MOAB certification program prior to their onboarding training to ensure they meet the requirements of the position
- Please be aware: The MOAB certification is not paid as it is a pre-requisite, however Paladin will cover all of the costs of the certification with a 6 month commitment to the position/availability
