INTERMEDIATE CLERK STENOGRAPHER (BAND LEVEL 2)

Position is located at 760 Topsail Rd Mount Pearl, NL A1N 3J5

(Full-Time, 1-Year Contractual Position)

This competition may be used to fill identical positions in this unit within three (3) months of the closing date

DUTIES

The successful applicant will be responsible for performing complex and challenging clerical work requiring the exercise of considerable independent judgement in a fully computerized office environment. Duties include maintaining office database(s) of applications; performing data entry duties; generating reports from the database(s) on a monthly basis and as requested; preparing and distributing ethics renewal notifications to Investigators; tracking ethics renewal applications for non-responders, generating closed file reminders on a monthly basis; updating and maintaining website; preparing and typing letters, memoranda, and other forms either from rough draft and/or dictating equipment; coordinating meetings including room booking and catering as required; assisting in the preparation of meeting material and agenda packages; attending meetings and preparing minutes; answering telephone/in-person inquiries; maintaining a manual filing system; ordering office supplies/catering items; and performing other related duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS

Experience (1-3 years) in moderately difficult and varied clerical work; graduation from high school including or supplemented by courses in office administration; or any equivalent combination of experience and training. Knowledge of Microsoft Office as well as excellent oral and written communication skills and excellent attention to detail is required. The ideal candidate will have strong organizational and interpersonal skills; the ability to work under strict deadlines; ability to work independently as well as be a contributing member of a team; and the ability to deal with the public tactfully and courteously. Previous experience working in research and/or healthcare would be an asset.

SALARY: $43,981 - $51,594 per annum (CUPE Local 1615)
