The Department of Natural Resources and Energy Development is seeking an individual to join the West Region, as Resource Manager, located in Fredericton.

As a member of the regional team and reporting to the Regional Director, the successful candidate will be responsible for the overall management of district staff and coordination of district field operations. The incumbent is responsible for playing a key role in leading various aspects of the Formal Management System; coordinating the delivery of the forest management, fish and wildlife management, and Crown land management activities as performed by district resource staff; and delivery of the regional forest fire and public education programs. This role is responsible for establishing, delivering, and monitoring long-term and annual work plans for district resource operations; monitoring the annual district resource operating budget; and participating in activities and issues related to recruitment, labour relations, classification, grievances, discipline, performance reviews, work planning, training, and safety. They are also responsible for managing regional and district offices administration and infrastructures; and maintaining an efficient asset management system. Other related duties and projects may be assigned as required.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Forestry, Forest Engineering, Biology, Science, Environmental Management or another natural resource related discipline; and a minimum of six (6) years of progressively more responsible experience in resource management, including a minimum of three (3) years of experience in a supervisory or program management role.

OR

  • A diploma from a recognized forest resource technical program and a minimum of eight (8) years of progressively more responsible experience in resource management, including a minimum of three (3) years of experience in a supervisory or program management role.

An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.

OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS: The successful candidate must be prepared to: travel within the region and province as required, including overnight stays; and work irregular or extended hours to complete assigned work as required.

SALARY: $77,766 to $103,454 per annum
