MAINTENANCE CARPENTER (BAND LEVEL 7)
Department of Facilities Management
(Two Year Contractual Position)
DUTIES
The Maintenance Carpenter will perform skilled carpentry tasks in accordance with standard trade practices. Duties include performing a variety of carpentry work, including building, finishing, and repairing cabinets, furniture, shelves, tables, bulletin boards, and partitions; cutting and replacing glass; repairing window frames and sashes; repairing and maintaining doors, frames, smoke checks, locks and door closers; installing, troubleshooting and maintaining automatic door operators; performing a variety of general maintenance work, including caulking windows and repairing and installing floor and ceiling tiles, and weather stripping; preparing for the installation of sinks and taps; and performing other related duties as required. This position will provide carpentry trade guidance and support to carpenter apprentices and will adhere to all proper safety practices and procedures.
QUALIFICATIONS
Experience (1-3 years) as a journeyperson carpenter, including some experience (up to 1 year) in performing varied maintenance and repair tasks; graduation from high school supplemented by the successful completion of a carpentry apprenticeship program. A valid journeyperson carpentry certificate, a valid driver's license, and drivers abstract, as issued by the Province of Newfoundland and Labrador, are required.
SALARY $33.58 - $39.38 per hour (NAPE Local 7801)
