BACKGROUND
Research Initiatives & Services (RIS) is the primary point of contact for all research funding applications and awards at Memorial University. The Hibernia and Hebron R&D initiative encompasses a new portfolio of projects. The Administrative Staff Specialist III will provide administrative direction in the functional areas of financial management, including budgeting, oversight, reporting, and human resource management, in conjunction with the Manager, Finance and Administration, Hibernia and Hebron R&D Initiative. The successful candidate will play a key role as a member of the administrative team in support of the initiative's deliverables.
DUTIES
Reporting to the Manager, Finance and Administration, Hibernia and Hebron Research & Development Initiative, the Administrative Staff Specialist III will perform responsible professional work in providing administrative direction to the Hibernia and Hebron Research Development Initiative. Duties include coordinating administrative, purchasing, accounting, budgeting, and human resource activities; maintaining comprehensive records of finances and accounts; monitoring grant and contract accounts; preparing quarterly financial reports for submission to the funding agencies; ensuring purchases are in accordance with defined budgets and in line with University purchasing policies and procedures; coordinating human resource activities, including recruitment, payroll, and leave management; developing, recommending, and implementing new systems, policies, and procedures; performing a variety of administrative staff functions; maintaining considerable contact with officials within the University; supervising staff; and performing other related duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS
Experience (3-5 years) in progressively responsible administrative positions; graduation with a university degree in business, public administration, or organizational management is required; or an equivalent combination of experience and training may be considered. The ideal candidate will have well-developed analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills. Knowledge of the Human Resources Management System and Microsoft Office Suite is essential. Experience working with Banner Finance, FAST, Banner Workflow, OnBase, and familiarity with university policies and procedures are assets.
SALARY $64,361 - $87,763 per annum (Management and Professional)
