BACKGROUND
Gardiner Centre (GC) is the outreach arm of the Faculty of Business Administration at Memorial University We offer non-credit professional development and leadership training for existing or aspiring supervisors, managers, executives, and entrepreneurs. Our offerings are conveniently delivered in short blocks of time, are practical and relevant to today's business environment, and are designed to inspire and prepare individuals and organizations to reach their full potential. Our full-service, dedicated training facility ensures convenient scheduling and year-round programming to meet our clients' unique requirements. Our association with the Faculty of Business Administration ensures access to highly qualified faculty, business practitioners, partners, and thought leaders. Gardiner Centre is seeking a friendly, organized, and energetic individual to assist our team in the successful execution of professional development training. The successful applicant will work as part of a highly collaborative team at Memorial University's Signal Hill Campus to help achieve excellence in customer service and training delivery.
This is a part-time position, working from 7:45 a.m. to 12:45 p.m., and represents a perfect opportunity for someone looking to achieve work-life balance in a hands-on and engaging role. This contractual position is open to renewal annually.
DUTIES
Reporting to the Training Coordinator, the Training Assistant will be responsible for hosting clients for professional development training and supporting logistical arrangements. Hosting duties include opening the Centre each morning, providing front desk coverage, preparing classrooms and the client lounge for onsite training delivery (e.g., name tags, tent cards, pens, notebooks, handouts), greeting training participants and instructors, providing technical support to instructors (training provided), preparing morning refreshment breaks, and maintaining a tidy lounge, classrooms, and discussion rooms. Administrative duties include updating the client database and statistical spreadsheets, ordering catering, preparing certificates and digital badges (training provided), responding to inquiries by telephone, email or in-person; and performing other related duties as required. Some evening and some weekend work is required.
QUALIFICATIONS
Experience (2-3 years) in moderately difficult and varied administrative work; completion of post-secondary courses in business or secretarial science is required; or an equivalent combination of experience and training may be considered. The ideal candidate will have the ability to multitask and solve problems, as well as knowledge of MS Office. Experience in a training and/or customer service environment is considered an asset.
SALARY $27.63 - $32.41 per hour (Non-Bargaining)
