The Department of Health is seeking an individual to join the New Brunswick Cancer Network (NBCN) as a Lung Cancer Screening Access Coordinator to provide leadership, guidance, and support in coordinating the New Brunswick Lung Cancer Screening Program, which is designed to prevent or detect lung cancer at its earliest stages.

Reporting to the Director of Operations at NBCN, the successful candidate will provide lung cancer screening program participants with person-centered support, information and education to facilitate access to screening. The Screening Access Coordinator will liaise with health care providers, hospital and community partners to ensure continuity of care according to screening programs' standards.

As a Lung Cancer Screening Access Coordinator, you will be responsible for:

  • Working within NBCN Cancer Screening Program Business Unit (CSP-BU) in collaboration with internal and external key stakeholders;
  • Performing telephone assessment, determining eligibility for lung cancer screening and provide patient-centered access coordination and education to eligible screening participants;
  • Coordinate low- dose computed tomography (LDCT) bookings and access to smoking cessation resources for eligible participants;
  • Participating in the development and review of operational policies related to the screening programs;
  • Monitoring and evaluating of screening-related services provided by various stakeholders, i.e. mail-out services, smoking cessation services, medical imaging units, etc.;
  • Involvement and participation in education and cancer screening awareness activities;
  • Communication with physicians, other health care professionals and supporting staff in matters related to cancer screening;
  • Establishment and maintenance of linkages between the programs, participants, health care providers, and other stakeholders (i.e. community agencies, medical imaging facilities, IT team);
  • Collection, entry, analysis and reporting of required data elements for the screening program.
  • Other duties related to cancer screening programs as required.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing;
  • Six (6) years of of relevant experience related to the control and prevention of chronic diseases and cancer such as prevention, screening, diagnosis or treatment of cancer, including lung cancer.
  • An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.
  • Written and spoken competence in English and French is required. Please state your language capability on your application

Necessary Special Requirement:

  • Candidates must be registered members in good standing with the Nurses Association of New Brunswick

Asset Qualifications: Preference may be given to candidates who possess one or more of the following asset qualifications:

  • Experience working in respiratory health care and/or smoking cessation counseling
  • Experience with health assessments over the phone

Salary: $77,766 to $103,454 per annum (Pay Band 6)
