Project Manager - Menihek

Key Responsibilities:
- Project management role for delivering mechanical and multidiscipline scopes. Possible scopes include but are not limited to:- Powerhouse Crane Refurbishment
- Cooling Water piping refurbishment
- Crane and Hoist inspections
- Mechanical Governor Maintenance
 
- Manage day-to-day operational aspects of projects and scopes of work.
- Create and execute project work plans, revising as appropriate to meet changing needs and requirements.
- Prepare tender packages for contracts and requests for proposals (RFPs).
- Review tender packages prepared by other consultants and contractors.
- Initiate and monitor all aspects of projects to ensure compliance with schedules and budgets.
- Ensure project change requests are properly evaluated and authorized.
- Ensure all approved changes are communicated to the project team and reflected in the active project budget and schedule.
- Identify and respond to issues, implement timely interventions or escalate as required to ensure project outcomes comply with project plans.
- Ensure that terms of agreements or commitments are understood and fully respected.
- Direct and supervise consultants and contractors during the completion of specific engagements.
- Communicate with Operations on a regular basis.
- Travel to site as required to provide technical input and field support.
- Candidate will need to be comfortable traveling by car, truck, side by side, helicopter, airplane and train.
- Candidate will need to be comfortable working in a remote camp setting with limited access as required for projects.
What We're Looking For:
- Proficiency with corporate systems such as JDE, Microsoft Outlook, Showcase, and advanced knowledge of Excel and PowerPoint.
- Ability to work in a dynamic work environment.
What You'll Need:
- University degree in Mechanical Engineering. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
- 8 years or more experience in construction projects.
- Ability to register as a Professional Engineer with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Newfoundland and Labrador (PEGNL).
- Experience in Contractor safety management.
- Experience with developing and administering capital projects.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification will be considered an asset.
- Field experience, particularly relating to hydro-electric facilities or the electrical industry in general is considered desirable.
- A valid driver's license will be required as there will be travel involved.
