Key Responsibilities:

The Lines Supervisor co-ordinates and supervises the maintenance and project activities of the Transmission Line Maintenance Group in St. Anthony. This role participates in preparing safe work procedures and packages, planning and scheduling the work and performs a variety of related administrative duties. The position also establishes special tooling and equipment needed for the crews and supports development and delivery of adequate training programs to maintain the Transmission & Distribution Lines. The incumbent is expected to exercise a considerable amount of judgement and personal initiative in the performance of day-to-day activities required to implement the maintenance plans and response to system disturbances.

The incumbent will assign work to employees to ensure the best possible use of workers and materials, and that any necessary outages are kept to a minimum duration. This position will also supervise employees engaged in completing all projects on schedule, administer the collective agreement, as well as review and approve timesheets.

The incumbent must ensure the necessary tools, equipment, spare parts, etc. are properly maintained and are available for use when needed. In addition, the incumbent will conduct planned general inspections, as well as accident/incident investigations, and provide verbal and/or written reports to the Operations leadership on problems encountered, corrective action taken or recommended. This position will also respond to emergency situations such as equipment failure and supervises employees to correct the problem as quickly and efficiently as possible.

This position will work in accordance with the Health and Safety Policies & Procedures and strive to eliminate any potential risk which could result in personal injury or occupational illness. The incumbent should also be familiar with the Environmental Policy and Guiding Principles and applicable environmental Standard Operating Procedures.­

What We're Looking For:

  • Strong interpersonal skills to foster effective working relationships with members of various teams;
  • Proven supervisory experience;
  • Excellent analytical skills and problem-solving abilities.

What You'll Need:

You have graduated from High School and have either an appropriate three-year Technology program or have obtained an appropriate Journeyperson certification, supplemented with five years of experience as a utility line worker since attaining journeyperson status including some supervisory or lead hand experience.­ Supervisory experience in a unionized workplace with experience leading several disciplines would be considered an asset. Other combinations of related education and experience may be considered.

You must be able to plan, lead and organize in a fast-paced work environment, and have strong oral and written communication skills. You have a good working knowledge of personal computers and the various software applications and have the willingness to adopt various corporate applications as necessary. You have a thorough knowledge of all regulations and safety rules and must possess and maintain an appropriate valid driver's license.­
