The Financial and Consumer Services Commission (Commission) is a leader in integrated financial and consumer services regulation. The Commission's mandate is to protect consumers and enhance public confidence in the financial and consumer marketplace through the provision of regulatory and educational services. With offices in both Fredericton and Saint John, it is responsible for the administration and enforcement of provincial legislation regulating mortgage brokers, payday lenders, real estate, securities, insurance, pensions, credit unions, trust and loan companies, cooperatives, unclaimed property, and a wide range of consumer legislation. The Commission is a self funded Crown corporation responsible for the administration and enforcement of financial consumer services legislation.

Information Management Officer - Information Technology and Regulatory Informatics (ITRI) Division (Saint John or Fredericton)

The Commission is seeking an experienced and proactive Information Management Officer to lead the administration of our Information Management (IM) program. In this role, you'll ensure our IM program complies with relevant legislation and aligns with organizational goals, industry standards, and best practices.

As a key member of the ITRI division, you'll play a vital role in guiding our organization through sound records management, employee training, and digital transformation efforts.

Your Focus

  • Identifies, inventories, and manages records eligible for retention or destruction, ensuring appropriate approvals from records owners.
  • Reviews, updates, and drafts records retention schedules as needed.
  • Develops, maintains, and oversees IM policies and procedures for the Commission.
  • Designs and delivers training on IM tools and processes; creates supporting materials such as user guides and presentations to ensure compliance with IM policies.
  • Monitors the overall health of the IM program and identifies gaps or improvements in the annual IM Strategy report submitted to the Manager, Data Systems and CISO.
  • Oversees protection of essential records and manages digitization projects.
  • Responds to Right to Information and legal disclosure requests and conducts records searches for staff.
  • Advises the ITRI division on IM practices related to IT systems and infrastructure.
  • Provides guidance on IM policies and practices to staff, Division Heads, and Executive Management.

What you bring

  • Post-secondary education related to records management, office administration, or equivalent;
  • 5-7 years of experience in a related field;
  • Advanced proficiency using Microsoft products, including the Microsoft Office Suite and SharePoint ;
  • Experience developing and delivering training (in person and virtually);
  • Comfort with technology and aptitude for learning;
  • Ability to work independently and produce work that is accurate and organized;
  • Ability to work with a team;

Additional Strengths

  • Coursework related to other software or records management / IT topics considered an asset;
  • Excellent spoken and written communication skills, bilingualism considered an asset.
