Job Description

WHAT IS THE OPPORTUNITY?

Commercial Credit IT is undertaking multiple complex enterprise-wide initiatives as part of RBC's ongoing plan to improve technology. As a Senior Scrum Master, you will be responsible for supporting development teams through core scrum principles, helping the team focus on sprint goals and achieve committed targets. The role will coordinate, develop, lead, communicate and execute activities to ensure objectives are accomplished through application of extensive, in-depth knowledge, skills, and practices to deliver on complex assignments.

WHAT WILL YOU DO?

  • Facilitate medium to high complexity scaled Agile initiatives from initiation through release and ongoing production support. Provide oversight to ensure alignment with RBC Agile/Scrum practices, including but not limited to, project planning / kick-off, sprint cadence, release and deployment planning for both technical and non-technical activities.

  • Project management related deliverables such as creating and managing delivery roadmaps, status updates, running production validation, identifying and managing delivery risks, tracking and reporting financials for the squad, navigating and identifying shared services required by the team in the delivery of its objectives.

  • Ability to run up to two labs including application custodian responsibilities

  • Facilitate discussions leading to collective decision-making, goal setting and conflict resolution within the team.

  • Remove impediments to delivery success through the proactive management of external dependencies, problem-solving, and the development of new solutions or approaches to ongoing challenges.

  • Champion ways-of-working by working towards business transformation and supporting change management across the teams. Creating a trusting and safe team environment.

  • With the assistance from agile coaches and the Agile COE, provide proactive coaching to the team and recommend continuous improvement of processes to optimize team productivity.

  • Communicate cross functionally, ensuring transparency of progress and outcomes; report team progress and accomplishment up and across; facilitate status updates, product demos and retrospectives; ensure timely project and financial reporting.

WHAT DO YOU NEED TO SUCCEED?

Must have:

  • An attitude for success, proactive approach to project management, outstanding verbal and written communication skills with excellent attention to detail, and passion for innovation

  • Knowledge of Scaled Agile practices

  • Knowledge of collaboration tools - JIRA and Confluence

  • Results-driven mindset with track record of successful project delivery

  • Ability to work in fast-paced, dynamic environments with changing priorities

  • Strong analytical skills with ability to interpret metrics and drive improvements

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience in a matrix environment, such as a large, publicly-traded corporation

  • Ability to facilitate between and influence key decision makers

  • Strategic thinker with excellent interpersonal skills to work across functions and businesses
