Signal Hill Campus Operations, Conference Services and Events

(Contractual Position to August 31, 2026; Part-time)

This position is only open to graduate students at Memorial University who currently reside in Signal Hill Campus Accommodations

DUTIES

The Signal Hill Campus Residence Coordinators (RCs) are our live-in, part-time employees who provide support, guidance, and direction to the residents of the Signal Hill Campus Graduate Accommodations. The RCs report to the Director, Signal Hill Campus Operations, Conference Services, and Events. Duties include identifying and addressing various student needs; orienting new residents to the accommodations or community; developing and delivering activities and programming; enforcing policies, procedures, and rules; resolving resident conflicts; serving as emergency wardens; completing a variety of administrative tasks; and performing other related duties as required. RCs are expected to demonstrate a commitment to the work and mandate of the Office of Signal Hill Campus Operations, Conference Services, and Events by fostering academic achievement, resident independence, and community-mindedness, as well as being positive role models. The RCs are in a position of leadership and trust and must exercise sound judgment, possess exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, and be capable of working collaboratively with residents, University staff, and others. The work of RC is almost exclusively carried out during the evenings and weekends.

QUALIFICATIONS

An undergraduate degree (preferably in education, social sciences, or human services); or equivalent combination of experience and training may be considered. The ideal candidate will have experience living and/or working in a university or college residence environment and can effectively demonstrate skills in areas of organization, communication, and leadership. The successful candidate will be required to provide a certificate of conduct.

Residence Coordinators must remain as a resident of Signal Hill Campus Accommodations during the entire period of employment. Preference will be given to those who have lived at the Signal Hill Campus Graduate Accommodations for at least one full semester. Experience fostering community development and independent living is an asset.
