Hours:

Variable Hours; Variable Shifts; Locums must agree to work a minimum of fourteen (14) days; 75 hours bi-weekly;

Salary:

NP35 of the RNUNL Salary Scales, $52.31 - $64.92 per hour;

Additional $25/hour for hours working in the locum position. Locums must agree to work a minimum of fourteen (14) days (75 hours bi-weekly) for this benefit to apply. Other benefits in accordance with the RNUNL Collective Agreement.

Job Summary

The Nurse Practitioner position offers an excellent opportunity to apply advanced clinical, theoretical and decision-making skills through comprehensive nursing knowledge. The Nurse Practitioner will work with an interdisciplinary team in a collaborative approach to primary health care. This position includes but is not limited to a preventative, health promotion, and supportive, rehabilitative and curative model of care.

Qualifications:

  • Graduation from an approved/recognized Nurse Practitioner education program is required;
  • Current and continuing practicing licensure as a Nurse Practitioner with the College of Registered Nurses of Newfoundland and Labrador (CRNNL) is required;
  • Current BCLS certification is required;
  • Current ACLS, PALS, TNCC certification considered an asset;
  • Breastfeeding Essentials course/education considered an asset;
  • A valid Newfoundland and Labrador Class 5 Drivers License and use of personal vehicle is required;
  • A satisfactory Certificate of Conduct and Vulnerable Sector Check is required;
  • A satisfactory record of work performance and attendance is required;
  • Flexible work hours are required, including a combination of days, evenings and weekends;
  • Ability to work in a multi-site environment is required;

Duties: (Included but not limited to)

  • Primarily responsible for the delivery of primary health care and chronic disease management;
  • Independently and collaboratively assesses, diagnoses, and prescribes in accordance with professional, provincial, and organizational standards, policies and clinical practice guidelines;
  • Utilizing a Person and family Centered care approach, works within a collaborative care team to ensure optimal care;
  • Advocates for clients, assessing their needs and if applicable, referring to appropriate care providers, professionals, or other services across the continuum of care;
  • Recognizes cultural diversity and practices cultural humility;
  • Utilizes, supports, facilitates or participates in research relevant to nursing and the interdisciplinary team;
  • Participating in program and policy development as required;
  • May be required to work alone and may be required to be on call;
  • May be required to work in a variety of settings and methods, including in-person visits, virtual care, visits in a person?s home, including personal care homes or long term care facilities, and community settings;
  • Other related duties as required;
