St. John's Status of Women Council/ Women's Centre
EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador (NL)
Since inception over 53 years ago, the St. John's Status of Women Council and St. John's Women's Center (SJSWC/WC) have continually worked to achieve equality and justice through political activism, community collaboration, and the creation of a safe inclusive space for all women and gender- diverse people in the St. John's area.
With a vision of equality and justice for all, its approximately 20 person core team is guided by principles of community, feminism, harm reduction, knowledge and understanding, nonpartisan, and trauma informed holistic support and programs. Approximately 90% of its funding is through provincial and federal government departments, with the remainder raised through its social enterprise activities and donations. SJSWC/WC relies on the partnership and generosity of individuals, corporations, and groups to raise funds for many of its programs and services.
SJSWC/WC is seeking a dynamic and compassionate Executive Director (ED) who is a social justice leader and changemaker. Appointed by and reporting to the Board of Directors, the ED will manage the operations and oversee the management of the four lines of business of the organization: St. John's Women Center, Safe Harbour Outreach Project, Marguerite's Place, and the Safer Substance Use Program. The ED will also work to achieve the goals established by the Board within its mandate, policies, and budget and will provide executive leadership and management of the organization's strategic plan, administration, and programs and services, playing a vital role in assuring its ongoing success. As the lead spokesperson, the ED will enhance the organization's profile within the community, advocate on its behalf, help expand upon its fund development capabilities, and make a significant contribution to its long-term success by maintaining a passionate commitment to SJSWC/WC mission, vision, and values.
As an ideal candidate for this role, you hold a post-secondary degree in business, health, social services, or community development, as well as senior leadership experience, or hold an equivalent education/experience record.
You are strategic, community minded, and financially astute and have a demonstrated track record in stakeholder, government, and community relations, as well as fund development. You are an empowering and energizing team builder and leader with a proven ability to assess and enhance operational performance, financial and administrative effectiveness, to implement and oversee key performance measurements, and to consistently identify opportunities for improving services and operations. You have enhanced communication and interpersonal skills, are partnership based, value acceptance and are a non-judgmental, approachable, and inclusive leader who is highly compassionate, open minded, flexible, and committed to coaching and further building a cohesive team.
Both SJSWC/WC and Evans Consulting and Recruitment Limited are committed to an inclusive hiring process that recognizes diversity and embraces a wide range of perspectives.
