We're hiring an Instructor for our Adult Basic Education program in Happy Valley-Goose Bay, Newfoundland and Labrador. Join a dynamic team committed to making a difference in communities throughout the province.
Position Summary
Instructor(s) play a vital role in the successful delivery of Academy Canada's programs. Adult Basic Education Instructors are responsible for providing high-quality instruction to adult learners, ensuring that course content is delivered effectively and in alignment with program outcomes and regulatory requirements. The instructor will facilitate learning through discussions, practical activities, and assessments while fostering a supportive and inclusive classroom environment.
Contract:
October 2024 - June 2024
9:00am - 3:00pm -- 30-hour work week
Responsibilities:
- Deliver Adult Basic Education courses (Level I, II and III)
- Develop and/or adapt assessments to meet learner needs
- Maintain student records including attendance and progress reports
- Support learners in achieving their personal, academic, and career goals
- Foster a positive, inclusive, and respectful classroom environment
- Liaise with administration, support staff, and community partners as required
- Manage daily operations of the satellite classroom, including scheduling and reporting
- Maintain a professional demeanor at all times
Qualifications:
- A Bachelor of Education with a minimum of 6 courses in Math, Science or English
- Effective communication, problem-solving and classroom management skills
- Ability to organize work, set priorities, and meet set deadlines
- Experience in providing differentiated instruction
- Ability to work independently in a remote or satellite environment
- Proficiency in the use of educational technology and online learning tools
Preferred:
- Experience teaching adult learners
- Familiarity with Newfoundland and Labrador's ABE curriculum
