What is the opportunity?
Global Functions Technology (GFT) is a division within RBC's Technology and Operations group, dedicated to supporting a wide range of business partners, including Risk, Finance, Human Resources (HR), Chief Administrative Office (CAO), Audit, Legal, Compliance, Financial Crime, Capital Markets, Personal and Commercial Banking, and Wealth Management.
The Senior Director, Global Finance ERP within GFT's Finance IT will own the successful greenfield implementation of a cloud-based, enterprise-wide Product Subledger Ledger, Non-Product Subledger and Enterprise General Ledger. Acting as the primary bridge between enterprise technology leadership, business stakeholders, and delivery squads, this role will drive the end-to-end implementation. This Global ERP Lead will ensure consistent design and configuration, oversee technical integration and performance, and align stakeholders across technology, finance, and operations.
What will you do?
Platform Execution
Lead a greenfield Product Subledger Ledger, Non-Product Subledger and Enterprise General Ledger implementation across all execution workstreams
Drive enterprise implementation by adhering to the global design template, leveraging lessons learned to accelerate adoption, and collaborate with the Program Director to establish delivery standards, methodologies, and KPIs for consistent, high-quality outcomes.
Technical and Functional Leadership
Provide expert oversight for platform integration, technical delivery, data integration, migration, and custom development, while acting as the lead subject matter expert to ensure the functional solution design meets requirements for event-based accounting, subledger, and GL processes.
Drive strategy for complex technical areas—including GL system integrations, data migration, and custom development—enforce ERP governance to uphold global template integrity across entity rollouts, and ensure the final solution is scalable and performant.
Leadership and Strategy
Lead and manage a multi-disciplinary team to achieve program objectives, fostering accountability and collaboration, while acting as the primary delivery partner to program leadership (aligning with the Program Director and ERP Architect).
Engage senior stakeholders to align on priorities, strategic trade-offs, and business strategies, ensuring deliverables meet outcomes and enable value creation.
Provide technology thought leadership to address business/regulatory demands, manage scope/priorities/changes, and promote cross-functional collaboration for enterprise solutions.
Resolve complex issues, enforce Enterprise Architecture Governance, oversee program financials with robust governance/reporting, and thrive in dynamic environments through organizational agility.
Talent Management
Sets direction and vision for team members and defines the team's deliverables and key performance indicators/metrics.
Fosters high achievement environments where diversity is valued, and people are treated with respect and dignity.
Assess current state capabilities and align them to future transformational roles and development plans
Establishes succession plan for key positions, including own role.
What do you need to succeed?
Must-have
15+ years of ERP implementation experience, leading large-scale, multi-entity ERP rollouts in global financial institutions, especially Tier-1 banks.
Expertise in ERP Subledger, General Ledger, event-based accounting processes, and SaaS ERP platforms (SAP or Oracle), including integration with enterprise GL systems.
Proven success in ERP governance, global template design, and entity rollouts, with hands-on leadership in program workstreams (design, configuration, integration, reporting, data migration).
Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, influencing senior executives and building relationships with diverse stakeholders.
Experience delivering cloud-based ERP solutions from design to production support, with deep knowledge of financial accounting principles and event-based accounting systems.
Demonstrated ability to lead geographically dispersed teams of consultants, developers, and integration specialists in global financial services environments.
Knowledge of architecture aspects (business, data, cyber security), SDLC lifecycle, Agile methodologies, and prior experience working with global/distributed teams.
Holds undergraduate and/or post-graduate degree (preferably in Business or Finance)
