SCHEDULE: Day, 8 and 12-hour shifts. Work schedule may be changed to meet operational needs.

JOB SUMMARY :

As a member of the Trauma NB staff who reports to a designated trauma coordinator, the Trauma Resource Nurse is responsible for supporting optimal trauma care in their facility as well as in neighbouring trauma centres, as needed. The Trauma Resource Nurse is responsible for implementing educational activities, quality improvement activities and trauma-related prevention and research activities as assigned by Trauma NB. They also play an essential role in collecting trauma-related data in their respective facilities.

EXIGENCES :

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing from a recognized university (significant asset);
  • Minimum of five years of recent clinical experience in emergency or intensive care settings, including direct care of trauma patients;
  • Advanced communication skills, both oral and written, in French and English;
  • Member in good standing of the NANB;
  • Current certification in TNCC. Certification in Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Emergency Nursing Certification – Canada (ENC(C)), and Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course (ENPC) will be considered an asset;
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently with little supervision within a specific area of responsibility;
  • Ability to communicate in an effective manner with the public and members of the care team, including physicians, nursing staff, allied health care providers, managers and members of the Board of Directors;
  • Ability to answer questions frequently asked by health care providers, managers, regulatory bodies or community members;
  • Ability to prepare and deliver presentations, and to write articles in the required style and format;
  • Ability to solve practical problems and manage various components of situations that are not highly standardized, including interpreting information presented in written, oral, or diagram form;
  • Proactive and resourceful, sound judgment, and ability to carry out work-related tasks effectively—skilled in organizing, setting priorities, and solving problems;
  • Computer skills for entry, retrieval, collection, organization, analysis and integration of data from various sources;
  • Ability to apply mathematical concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, proportions and data analysis;
  • Proven and current knowledge of trauma systems;
  • Valid New Brunswick driver's licence;
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team;
  • Physical ability to perform the assigned work;
  • Good work history (performance and attendance);
  • Adherence to professional ethical principles, the Network's management philosophy, and organizational values;
  • Compliance with the rules of confidentiality set by Vitalité Health Network.
