ENGINEERING PROJECT SHOP SUPERVISOR (BAND LEVEL 10)

(PROJECT ENGINEER)

Department of Technical Services

(Contractual Position to October 15, 2027)

DUTIES

The Shop Supervisor will be responsible for supervising technical staff in the Project Engineering team, including training and mentoring junior staff. The Supervisor will be accountable for consulting with faculty, staff, and students to prepare project designs for laboratory and scientific equipment. The incumbent will also prepare cost estimates and provide project status updates. Duties include completing analysis for a wide range of applications, including compliance for pressure systems; preparing CAD files for parts and assemblies; and tracking fabrication activities. The successful applicant will also support the quality management program, maintain project data, participate in relevant committees, and perform other related duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS

Experience (5-7 years) of mechanical engineering related work in a university or related environment; graduation from high school, supplemented by the successful completion of a Mechanical Engineering degree, is required; or an equivalent combination of experience and training may be considered. The incumbent must be eligible for registration with Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Newfoundland and Labrador. Experience working with fabrication technologies is essential, including CNC machining, welding, additive manufacturing, waterjet cutting, and 3D scanning. Demonstrated knowledge of ASME Codes for pressure systems is also required, as well as knowledge of computing applications such as SolidWorks. The successful candidate should also possess excellent organizational and communication skills and demonstrate the ability to work in a team environment. Project planning experience would also be an asset.

SALARY $74,288 - $96,297 per annum (Management and Professional)
