The Cost Estimator provides cost estimation support and services for projects led by the Enterprise Project Management Office (EPMO) and other cross-functional areas requiring project management assistance. This role ensures the accuracy of project budgets, recommends appropriate contingency allocations, and delivers reliable cost data to support informed decision-making related to cost, schedule, and risk mitigation to help maintain successful project delivery.
Key functions include:
- Prepare cost estimates at various project phases using the scope of work and engineered drawings to support the on-time, on-budget delivery of multi-million-dollar capital construction projects.
- Review and provide feedback on third-party estimates to ensure accuracy and alignment with project requirements.
- Develop and maintain project estimating databases, procedures, guides, and templates in line with NB Power standards and industry best practices.
Our ideal teammate will have:
- A University degree in Engineering or Diploma in Engineering Technology ( those with a technical diploma will require an additional two years of experience)
- Four years of experience in estimating functions or related activities in capital construction projects
- Detailed knowledge of estimating tools and databases
- Experience in document creation and editing (Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and SharePoint)
- Support the preparation of capital budget submissions and long-term investment plans.
- Experience, working knowledge, accreditation, certification, or program affiliation with the following would be considered an asset:
- Prior work experience in a Utility environment
- AACE International Certified Estimation Professional (CEP)
OR
- Construction Institute of Canada (TCIC) Gold Seal Certification
OR
- International Cost Estimating and Analysis Association (ICEAA) Certified Cost Estimator/Analyst
- A valid Class 5 Driver's License
An equivalent combination of training and experience may be considered. Subject to competition response, the minimum qualifications may be modified.
An Eligibility List generated from this competition may be used to fill future vacancies at the same level within a period of up to 12 months.
