The Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) department of the Fisheries and Marine Institute of Memorial University of Newfoundland is seeking applications to fill one permanent System Administrator IV position. The ICT Department is responsible for providing information technology and information management support and protection, including classroom technologies and communication services, to approximately 400 faculty and staff and 1,200 students at the Marine Institute.

THE OPPORTUNITY

The System Administrator IV is a senior position reporting to the Manager of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) at the Marine Institute (MI), leading the ICT in the areas of cybersecurity and endpoint protection, and working in conjunction with the OCIO on St. John's campus to improve the security posture of Memorial University. Duties include vulnerability analysis and remediation for all MI systems using Trend Micro Vision One, Nessus vulnerability scanning, FortiAnalyzer reporting, Artic Wolf Cybersecurity Solutions, Microsoft 365 security tools and other industry tools. Other duties include endpoint protection and management using TrendMicro, M365, SCCM and Intune. As a senior member of the ICT Team this resource will lead MI security related initiatives and training as well as promote best practice security policies and procedures.

QUALIFICATIONS

Experience (5-7 years) in a systems administration role, preferably cybersecurity in an enterprise network environment; earned a bachelor's degree or diploma in a relevant field, or any equivalent combination of education and experience. The ideal candidate is familiar with vulnerability assessment and remediation, Nessus scanning tools, FortiAnalyzer, and Trend Vision One or similar XDR cybersecurity suites. Possession of cybersecurity certifications would be an asset. The ideal candidate possesses strong analytical and problem-solving skills; excellent communication skills; works well as part of a team in a dynamic, fast-paced environment; has strong attention to detail; demonstrated experience and proficiency in document control and change management procedures.

SALARY: $73,136 – 80,387 per annum (NAPE Local 7850) An upscale hiring step will apply to this position.
