Job Summary & Responsibilities:

Newfoundland and Labrador Health Services is happy to invite expressions of interest for the position of Urgent Care Physician at the brand-new Urgent Care Centers East and West in the Metro St. John???s and Mount Pearl areas. The Urgent Care Centers will provide patients with urgent assessment, diagnosis and treatment of minor illnesses, injuries and acute care concerns. Minor procedures such as casting, suturing, foreign body removal, among others will be offered at the centers. Blood work and selective diagnostic services will be available on site to assist with clinical decision making. Care will be provided to all age groups. Physicians can be based at one or both of the brand new Urgent Care Centers located in the Eastern Urban Zone. Physicians will be expected to provide shared coverage such that the centers are operational 12 hours per day, 7 days a week, 365 days per year. Physicians will be expected to commit to a certain number of shifts per month, based on availability. Physician experience in emergency medicine, rural medicine, or other episodic/acute care environments would be an asset but not a requirement. Shifts will be 6 hours in duration with hand over to oncoming staff.

Qualifications:

??? Must be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of
? Newfoundland and Labrador (CPSNL).
??? Current appointment to medical staff of NLHS.
??? Demonstrates commitment to patient-focused care and evidence-based practice.
