The Manager, Fleet is a key part of the management team as well as the fleet team that provides a well-maintained, safe, effective, and efficient fleet of vehicles designed to give optimal customer service and patient care. Reporting to the Director, System Support & Safety, the position is accountable to exercise ''highest standards of NLHS system vehicle maintenance and cleanliness available" in the industry. The Manager will be largely responsible to ensure all system vehicles are safe, serviced and maintained, cleaned, and stocked in accordance with NLHS policies and procedures. The Manager is responsible to lead and manage the system vehicle long term vehicle replacement plan through an established evergreen process approved by as well assumes a lead role in system vehicle design, vehicle quality improvement and quality reporting.

Responsibilities include:

  • Provides provincial day to day coordinated management oversight of both "in-house" fleet maintenance and repair as well provides management oversight of all outsourced fleet maintenance and repair through authorized maintenance vendors.
  • Develops and manages all existing MHNL Fleet policies and procedures to ensure they are relevant and understood by all fleet staff.
  • Ensures all Provincial OH&S Regulations are understood and followed.
  • Ensure the Fleet Safe Work Practices are understood and followed.
  • Develop and manage a system vehicle preventative maintenance program using established benchmarking techniques and performance metrics.
  • Manage and maintain a fleet parts / inventory control system based on a "just in time" inventory control system.
  • Develops, monitors and make the necessary adjustments to the annual NLHS fleet operating budget including monthly budget variance monitoring and reporting.
  • Establish and sets all work schedules for all fleet center staff.
  • Develop policy and training to ensure all cleaning required to the vehicle interior or exterior in accordance with proper decontamination procedures and policies.
  • Is the direct liaison with the NLHS authorized ambulance system vehicle manufacturer / provider.
  • Develop and maintain an in-house fleet quality assurance audit program.
  • Provide quality leadership direction and support to all fleet staff.
  • Lead and manage the system vehicle fleet daily mileage management optimizing vehicle mileage travel to promote vehicle lifecycle efficiencies.
  • Is the direct liaison with the NLHS Fleet Inspector on all aspects of NLHS Regulator inspection compliance program.

Professional Qualifications & Competencies:

  • Minimum five to seven years' progressive Fleet Manager / Auto Industry Service Manager role.
  • Nationally recognized Automotive Fleet Manager Designation / Certification .
  • Licensed NFLD Red Seal Mechanic in good standing .
  • Class 5 NFLD License in good standing.
  • WHIMIS Certification.
  • Experience working with large commercial fleets.
  • Well, organized with the ability to prioritize workload in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication skills both oral and written.
  • Comfortable working to a schedule with demanding turn-around times
  • Above average customer service focused.
