Established in 1987, the Single Parent Association of Newfoundland & Labrador (SPANL) empowers families across the province by providing single parents with the support necessary to regain control over their lives for the empowerment of themselves and their children. Having experienced substantial growth, we're adding an Employment Services Specialist to our driven, energetic team.
The Employment Services Specialist plays a key role within our organization - delivering our longest-tenured employment training program, SESP (Single Parent Employment Support Program). As a training facilitator, you will work with a driven and dedicated team to empower single-parents across the province in becoming self-sufficient.
What will you do in this role at SPANL?
- Manage a caseload of current and prior SESP participants, providing customized support including job readiness skills and job search training;
- Work with the SESP team to create and implement a marketing plan to promote the SESP program and its eligibility throughout the province;
- Assess and evaluate program applicants to determine eligibility, enrollment and funding availability;
- Maintain accurate records, up-to-date paperwork and program information;
- Generate weekly, monthly and quarterly reports on program KPIs, as needed;
- Work with community stakeholders to identify opportunities for guest speakers and community involvement in SESP training;
- Collaborate with other nonprofit agencies to develop a strong knowledge and network of services available to SESP clients;
- Assist with SPANL projects as needed, including project rollouts, operational needs, etc.

- Completion of post-secondary education in the Human Sciences field or a related area, coupled with 2+ years of field experience
- Unmatched communication skills with the ability to deliver information in customized formats based on the audience

- Proven presentation skills experience, with the ability to deliver training sessions in a virtual environment
- Strong skills in MS Office including Powerpoint, Excel and Word

- A true team player, you're best suited for a collaborative environment, but also have the ability to work independently
- Experience working in community outreach or nonprofit organizations is considered an asset
- Previous work with PRIME certified assessment tools is also considered an asset
- Certificate of Conduct with Vulnerable Sector is required
