Definition of Work:
Reporting to the Provincial Manager of Supply Operations Management, this position supports the vision and mandate of the Provincial Health Supply Chain by ensuring the timely flow of goods and services from vendors to the health organizations. The Expeditor is responsible for tracking purchase orders, following up with vendors, resolving delays, and ensuring that products are delivered on time, to the right place, and in accordance with contract requirements. This work is critical to maintaining quality, safety, reliability, operational efficiency, and overall value in the supply chain for the customers at Newfoundland and Labrador Health Services (NLHS).


This role requires strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills to build collaborative working relationships with vendors, internal customers, and external stakeholders. The Expeditor acts as the key link between purchasing operations, vendors, and end users to ensure supply continuity and minimize disruptions.


In this capacity, the Expeditor will:

? Monitor purchase orders to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with contract requirements.
? Follow up with vendors on open orders, backorders, and delivery timelines, escalating issues where needed.
? Work with internal customers to identify urgent requirements and prioritize order fulfillment.
? Track, investigate, and resolve issues related to late deliveries, incomplete shipments, or incorrect products.
? Maintain accurate records of order status, vendor communication, and delivery performance.
? Provide regular updates and reporting on expediting activities, delivery performance, and risks to supply continuity.
? Coordinate with sourcing, contracts, and purchasing operations teams to address recurring supply issues.
? Assist with substitutions and shortages to ensure continuity of care.
? Support the development of key performance indicators (KPIs) related to order fulfillment and delivery responsiveness.
? Promote compliance with Supply Chain policies, procedures, and provincial procurement legislation.
? Participate in meetings with vendors, internal teams, and stakeholders to resolve delivery or performance issues.
? Contribute to special projects that support supply chain efficiencies and service improvements.


Required Qualifications:

? Graduation from an approved college or university with an undergraduate degree in Commerce, Business Administration, or a related discipline. Equivalent education and experience may be considered.
? Experience working with the Public Procurement Act, and working in supply chain, logistics, procurement, or a related field.
? Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
? Excellent communication skills (oral and written), including the ability to handle difficult conversations with tact and diplomacy.
? Proficiency in preparing reports, analyzing data, and maintaining accurate tracking tools.
? Strong interpersonal skills, including collaboration, conflict resolution, and relationship management.
? Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
? Consistent demonstration of NLHS?s corporate values: Innovation, Compassion, Accountability, Respect, and Excellence (ICARE)
? A satisfactory record of work performance and attendance.
? A satisfactory certificate of conduct from the RCMP or local police authority.

Preferred Qualifications:

? A supply chain designation (e.g., CSCP, CPIM, CPSM, SCMP, or related).
? Experience with expediting or supply chain operations in a healthcare setting.
? Knowledge and/or experience with process and quality improvement methodologies such as Lean, Six Sigma, Performance Management, or System-Based Thinking.
? Familiarity with ERP systems (e.g., Meditech) and Microsoft Office Suite.
