The Community Action Group on Homelessness (CAGH) is a passionate network of government and non-government agencies serving in the homelessness sector in the Fredericton region. CAGH is committed to strengthening community capacity to end homelessness in Fredericton through collective planning, collaboration, and community engagement. We serve as the Community Advisory Board (CAB) for the Designated Community of Fredericton under the Government of Canada's Homelessness Strategy - Reaching Home. We aim to be a community where all who find themselves homeless have immediate options for housing and support, with the ultimate goal of ending chronic homelessness.

At this time we are seeking a passionate individual for the following position:
Position Title: Director - Community Action Group on Homelessness (CAGH)
Position Type: Part-time Position (approx 25hrs/week)
Length: 1 year contract, to be hosted by the Human Development Council. Opportunity to extend contract after 1 year.
Salary range: $40,000 - $50,000
Reports to: CAGH Executive Team
The Role
- Implement CAGH's Strategic Road Map 2024-2027.
- Educate and advocate to levels of government and public on behalf of the CAGH.
- Support CAGH membership as they work collectively towards CAGH vision and priority action areas.
What you'll do
- Develop and sustain key partnerships (locally, provincially, nationally) in order to advance the mission, vision, and objective of the CAGH.
- In coordination with CAGH, identify systemic barriers in homelessness serving system, and advocate for system change, enabling service providers to work effectively.
- Join the Chair and Vice-Chair at meetings with Government and strategic stakeholders to represent CAGH.
- Identify partner gaps and partnership barriers within the Coordinated Access system and work towards solutions.
- Stay current on the changing environment of the homelessness landscape and understand how strong data driven evidence informs decisions/outcomes.
- Serve as the media spokesperson on behalf of CAGH for areas of priority for the collective efforts of the Committee using the strategic plan as a reference. Will not speak for specific agencies. Will refer specific project questions back to project owners.
- Compile information pertinent to the work of CAGH and report back to the group at the next meeting.
- Report back to CAGH ongoing work and recommendations from CAGH sub-committees (Governance, Lived Experience, etc).
- Oversee contracting of other services; administrative, marketing, communications ,etc.
What you bring
- Knowledgeable about the current landscape of the homelessness response sector locally, provincially, and nationally.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to galvanize partners around the issues of homelessness.
- Strong political acumen with advocacy experience.
- Demonstrated track record of seeking collaborative solutions.
- Strong interpersonal, organization ,and conflict resolution skills
- Ability to maintain a flexible schedule to accommodate key meetings with community partners.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and virtual meeting platforms (Zoom, Google Meeting, etc).
- Related education is an asset (Social Work, Nursing, Political Science, Public & Population Health, etc.).
- Bilingual (French and English) communication skills considered an asset
