On behalf of our client - Jump Recruitment is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Accountant. This is a permanent full-time position located in St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador

Job Summary

We are seeking a reliable and experienced Accountant to join our team and support the financial operations of our organization. Reporting directly to the Controller, this role is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and providing timely financial insights to support business decisions.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate financial records and ensure proper bookkeeping using accounting software (Sage 50).
  • Handle accounts payable and receivable, including invoicing, payments, and reconciliations including Visa reconciliations.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
  • Perform bank reconciliations and monitor cash flow and budgeting activities.
  • Process weekly payroll and ensure compliance with employment and tax regulations.
  • Support external accountants or auditors during financial reviews and audits.
  • Assist in the preparation of management reports and financial forecasts.
  • Monitor financial transactions and ensure they are recorded according to legal and company policies.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • Proven experience (typically 5+ years) in a similar accounting role.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and relevant legislation.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (Sage considered an asset).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word).
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Work under time constraints to meet specific timelines.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality at all times.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
