Position: Treatment Attendant
Organization: Rising Sun Treatment Centre
Location: Natoaganeg (Eel Ground) First Nation, NB
Hours of Work: Days/evenings/nights, 12hr shifts
Status: Casual
Salary: $20.00/hour

The Rising Sun is seeking to add to our current casual pool. The ideal candidate is a supportive, non-judgemental, and trauma-informed individual, interested in an opportunity to support Indigenous clients as they transition to an addiction-free lifestyle.

Who we are

Rising Sun Treatment Centre is an Indigenous-based addiction and healing centre located in Natoaganeg (Eel Ground First Nation). We are a partnership of 11 participating communities in New Brunswick. Our programs assist clients in their personal growth by empowering them with knowledge, skills and strategies to ensure a successful transition to an addiction-free lifestyle. Our approach of supporting clients as they transition to a new lifestyle is grounded in Indigenous healing practices and philosophies.

Responsibilities

  • Provides physical, emotional, mental and spiritual support to create a safe, secure, non-judgmental environment in which clients can recover from substance use.
  • Takes a supportive role in the function and flow of programs and services.
  • Performs regular visual checks on clients to assess physical and mental state.
  • Supports client wellness by facilitating their personal, social, and emotional growth and assisting them in their recovery.
  • The ability to meet people 'where they are at' and engage clients in meaningful ways.
  • Works collaboratively with other treatment staff and professionals to support clients.

Qualifications:

  • Grade 12 or equivalent AND three (3) years direct work experience in the helping field OR diploma or degree in the field of human services and one (1) year direct work experience
  • CPR certificate and non-violent crisis intervention certificate
  • Knowledgeable of trauma-informed practices in addictions and mental health care
  • Knowledge of the history of colonization of Indigenous Peoples in Canada and the effect on the lives of this population.
  • Criminal record check and vulnerable sector check
  • Committed to personal wellness and living a lifestyle free from alcohol and drugs
