About the Role
Reporting to the Manager of Mental Health Services, the primary purpose of this position is to collaborate with internal departments and external agencies to ensure a coordinated approach in the provision of FASD-related services in the region.
Qualifications:
? Bachelor of Social Work
? Registration with NLCSW
? Experience in the mental health, addictions, or community health field - preferably with specific work experience with fetal alcohol spectrum disorder.
? Specific knowledge and experience in the areas of program planning and delivery, research methods, and community development methods.
? Strong interpersonal, analytical, facilitation, written and oral communication skills are required.
? Valid drivers license with use of personal vehicle.
? The successful candidate will be required to submit a satisfactory certificate of conduct.
Duties: (Included but not limited to)
? Screen comprehensive assessment packages for presentation to the FASD Diagnostic Team.
? Support, intervene on behalf of, and advocate for individuals, groups and communities that are impacted by FASD.
? Maintain appropriate referral processes in consultation with Labrador FASD Diagnostic Team and community groups.
? Participate on related committees and teams.
? Maintain a data base of individuals with FASD.
? Compile and maintain inventory of FASD resource materials; and ensure a fluid distribution of such resources within the region.
? Maintain a specialized level of knowledge and skill pertaining to FASD treatment and education / prevention programming through ongoing research and review of current literature.
? Liaise closely with medical staff, education, and legal agency personnel.
? Serve as an authoritative source of information regarding FASD and available programs and services.
? Other related duties as required.
? Travel required, may be required to work alone.
