The Cultural Safety, Diversity, and Inclusion Officer (TheOfficer) leads, develops and coordinates initiatives that improve and promotecultural safety, diversity, equity and inclusion at WSCC, in all Northernworkplaces under our jurisdiction and in the programs and services provided bythe WSCC to our stakeholders.
The Officer as a subject matter expert will ensure:
- WSCC delivers programs and services that are culturally safe, relevant andrepresentative, and (acknowledges the history, culture, values, knowledge andways of being of the Indigenous people of the Northwest Territories (NT) andNunavut (NU).
- WSCC is committed to gaining knowledge of, recognizing andrespecting diversity and equity and inclusion, in our programs, services andorganization in our jurisdictions.
- The WSCC is an inclusive workplace culture that is culturallysafe, respectful, equitable and safe for all employees to feel supported andencouraged to contribute their unique perspectives to the work that we do.
Here are a few ways you will make a difference:
- Leading initiatives that help build cultural safety, diversity, equityand inclusion into all Northern workspaces under the WSCC jurisdiction.
- Supporting all WSCC units in operationalizing cultural safety,diversity, equity and inclusion in programs and services for the benefit ofexternal stakeholders.
- Supporting Human Resources in the development and implementation ofprograms and initiatives to ensure that the WSCC is a culturally safe,equitable and inclusive workplace.
- Performing other duties as assigned to achieve strategic goals andobjectives related to cultural safety, diversity, equity and inclusion.
What youbring to the role:
- Completion of a diploma in Indigenous Studies or Social Sciencesrelated discipline (such as Sociology, Political Science, Social Work,Community Development, etc.), with 5 years experienceand training developing and delivering programs, and/or working with Indigenousand inter-cultural organizations and diversity and inclusion focusedorganizations, or with diverse communities.
- Preference will be given to Indigenous Aboriginal candidates.

Equivalencies: May be considered based ona one-year of directly related experience equivalent to one year of educationor one year of education for one year of experience.
