About the Department/Region

The Western Region maintains and supports approximately 1,100 NL Housing rental properties on the west coast of Newfoundland through offices in Corner Brook and Stephenville. The region provides a wide range of services, including receiving and processing rental applications; administering rental accounts and lease compliance provisions; providing various client services and tenant relations including eviction prevention, and monitoring, facilitating and administering property maintenance. A variety of programs designed to support low to moderate income households and homeowners are also delivered. Regional staff members are involved in the delivery of the Provincial Home Repair, Home Modification, Home Energy Savings, Partner Managed Housing, and Rent Supplement Programs.

Salary Scale: $48,994 to $54,236 per annum ($26.92 to $29.80 CG-28), 35-hour work week

Duties: The incumbent co-ordinates the delivery of Provincial Home Repair (PHRP), Home Modification (HMP) and Home Energy Savings (HESP) programs, as well as other programs that may be determined at a later date in the Western Region. This work includes processing applications, assessing financial eligibility (through the review of credit reports and related documents), and ensuring conformance with applicable program guidelines. The incumbent provides general information, guidance, support and advice regarding policies and processes for the delivery of these programs. This involves meeting with program area stakeholders and departmental staff to provide program specific advice on policies and procedures, liaising with government agencies to set up payments of loans, and flagging program variances for review by management. The incumbent recommends on release of funding and monitors timelines to ensure compliance with program guidelines and communicates with supervisors and applicants to ensure efficient delivery of programs. This position provides input into the development and implementation of policies by participating in user groups. The incumbent prepares program related correspondence and manages files (including reviewing completed files for missing information), maintains files and inputs client information into computerized Program Delivery System (PDS), and provides program related administrative support. Other administrative duties may be required.

Screening Criteria

Completion of a two-year Diploma program in Business or Office Administration (equivalences may be considered)

Experience in administrative practices
