DUTIES

Memorial University Botanical Garden and Johnson Geo Centre are looking for a dynamic team player to oversee the daily operations and administration of Visitor Services, as well as providing support functions to the gift shop. Duties include greeting and orienting all visitors upon arrival; answering inquiries in-person, by telephone, and/or email; handling customer feedback; processing admissions, memberships, registrations, and gift shop sales through cash, debit, and credit card transactions; completing daily cash out; assisting with promotion, registration, and implementation of public programs; maintaining office inventory necessary for supporting the visitor services functions; staffing receptions and special events; assisting with inventory control for the gift shop; supervising visitor services student staff, volunteers; and performing other related duties as assigned. Weekend and some evening work is required.

QUALIFICATIONS

Experience (1-3 years) in general clerical or office work with a customer service focus, including supervisory experience; graduation from high school, supplemented by office, business administration or related courses, is required; or an equivalent combination of experience and training may be considered. Experience in a retail environment would be an asset. Applicants must be able to work independently with minimal supervision; maintain a clean and tidy work area; demonstrate excellent customer service, communication, time management, organizational, and interpersonal skills; and be comfortable using a computer and the Microsoft Office suite.

SALARY $47,057 - $55,196 per annum (CUPE Local 1615)
