The Opportunity

We are currently seeking an, Senior Analyst, Technical to join our Research and Innovation (R&I) team in Sudbury.

This is a permanent position.

As the Senior Analyst, Technical, you will be responsible for overseeing, setting direction, and monitoring Vale Base Metals' R&I portfolio. You will work closely with initiative owners to track progress and budgets throughout the year, assessing initiatives against criteria such as adherence to VBM strategy, value, technical solutions, and execution efficiency.

Additionally, in this position you will:

  • Be involved in Technology scouting and program/initiative development
  • Create business cases and running basic financial calculations
  • Assist initiative owners to create execution plans
  • Vet intellectual property patent applications
  • Interface with various groups in Vale Base Metals to submit grant and incentive applications
  • Create or assist with technology roadmap development
  • Identify new technology for potential deployment in our business
  • Assess and make recommendations for external ecosystem partners
  • Act as a representative in industry organizations and participate in technical conferences.

In addition to the above, this position may occasionally function as an Initiative Owner to advance some of the Research and Innovation Portfolio.

About You

Education:

  • Bachelors in Engineering Degree (Preferably Mining Engineering)

Experience:

  • 10-15 years' of work experience

Skills:

  • Highly organized and proactive, with the ability to manage and plan workload effectively.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
  • Exceptional attention to detail.
  • Engineering or technical qualification preferred, with an MBA or equivalent consulting experience.
  • Ability to learn and apply financial modeling and advanced spreadsheet techniques.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, capable of producing clear and concise reports.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills within multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Proven ability to communicate with various stakeholders, including senior management.
  • Skilled in building strong relationships through effective communication.
  • Portuguese language capability preferred but not required.
