Job Summary

Reporting to the Manager of Programs and Services, the Counseling Therapist will play a key role in supporting client wellness. The Counselling Therapist will provide trauma-informed, culturally responsive counselling services to clients of all backgrounds. This role includes conducting individual and/or group therapy sessions, developing treatment plans, maintaining accurate documentation, and collaborating with other team members and external partners to support client well-being.

Typical Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide individual, family, and/or group therapy to clients
  • Conduct assessments and develop treatment plans tailored to client needs
  • Help clients develop coping strategies, emotional regulation skills, and problem-solving abilities
  • Provide crisis intervention or de-escalation when necessary
  • Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation and electronic
  • Collaborate with Federation Partners, and represent New Brunswick on National Working Groups
  • Participate in staff meetings, case reviews, and professional development
  • Uphold ethical and professional standards in accordance with licensure requirements
  • Assist in administrative duties or responsibilities that may be necessary in the overall plan of ASNB
  • Travel as required

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in counselling, counselling psychology, or social work
  • Current licensure (e.g., LCT, RSW) or licensure-eligible in New Brunswick (Licensed Counseling Therapist or Registered Social Worker)
  • Minimum of 2 years of counseling experience (preferably in a non-profit or community setting)
  • Training and experience offering remote therapy
  • Training and experience offering Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
  • Sensitive to the impact of Alzheimer's disease on the individual and the family
  • Familiarity with trauma-informed and strengths-based approaches
  • Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
  • Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in mental health care
  • Commitment to ethical practice and maintaining client confidentiality in accordance with the applicable regulatory college (e.g., CCPA Code of Ethics, NBASW Code of Ethics).
  • Experience with electronic health records (EHR)
  • Ability to work well independently and as part of a team
  • Community awareness with the ability to build trusting relationships with community partners
  • Excellent computer skills with knowledge of MS Office
  • Must carry or be eligible to carry professional liability insurance in accordance with regulatory body requirements
  • Openness to ongoing clinical supervision and peer consultation as part of a reflective and ethical practice.
  • Possess a valid NB driver's license and be available to travel within the region
  • Ability to work outside regularly scheduled hours as required
  • Must be Bilingual in French and English
