The Office of the Provincial Security Advisor (OPSA) contributes to provincial security by assessing threats, risks, and vulnerabilities facing New Brunswick that could impact public safety, critical infrastructure, the economy, and the function of government. OPSA provides advice and support to government, critical infrastructure owners and operators, as well as the law enforcement, security and intelligence community. OPSA facilitates collaboration between stakeholders at all levels of government and the private sector to foster a secure, resilient, and competitive province.

What you will do
The Intelligence Analyst uses specialized knowledge to conduct research and assess information concerning threats, risks, and vulnerabilities facing the province. They work through every step of the Intelligence Cycle to produce tactical, operational and strategic intelligence, authoring written products, as well as providing briefings and presentations. They support, and work in collaboration with, government departments and entities, critical infrastructure stakeholders, and the law enforcement, security and intelligence community. Their work helps protect New Brunswick¿s citizens, the economy, critical infrastructure, and the function of government.

Your attitude, skills and interests are just as important as your area of study. We are looking for diverse backgrounds that bring a combination of the following:

Need to have:

  • University degree in Criminology, Sociology, Science, or similar discipline.
  • Minimum of four years of experience providing analytical or assessment services.
  • Successful candidates will be required to undergo a criminal history clearance and security clearance check.

An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.

Written and spoken competence in English is required. Please state your language capability.

OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS: The following operational requirements are also required:

  • Obtain and maintain Top-Secret security clearance (upon hire). Includes, at minimum, criminal history check, credit check, background investigation and security interview.
  • Valid class 5 driver's license
  • May be required to work extended and/or irregular hours on occasion
  • Occasional travel in the province, and outside the province, may be required

Nice to Have (their asset qualifications)

  • Preference may be given to those applicants who have analytical experience in intelligence, security, law enforcement or similar environment.
  • Past experience in risk analysis and assessment of sensitive and confidential information.

Subject to the response to this competition, candidates may be required to demonstrate on their application one or more of the asset qualifications in addition to the essential qualifications in order to be given further consideration.

Wage
$2,216.00 ¿ $3,099.00 Biweekly based on education and experience

Work environment

  • Office location: Fredericton
  • Office layout: cubicles and shared office space

  • Standard hours of work: Monday - Friday, 8:15-4:30
  • May be required to work extended and/or irregular hours on occasion.
