The Department of Justice and Public Safety is seeking two individuals to join the Policy Branch, as Senior Policy Analysts working in Fredericton.

What you will do
As a member of the Policy Branch, the successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Preparing, providing analysis or advice and coordinating the development of departmental legislative and regulatory proposals including the preparation of ¿Memorandum to Executive Council¿
  • Preparing briefing notes and other reports as assigned
  • Advising senior officials during Cabinet committee meetings and presentations to Caucus and the Standing Committee on Economic Policy
  • Liaising with program staff, the Executive Council Office, and Legislative Services in the drafting of legislation and regulations
  • Providing general regulatory, legislative, and policy advice and support to senior management and program staff
  • Liaising with program staff and the Office of the Attorney General regarding legal opinion requests as required
  • Consultation with departments, partners and stakeholders as required

Need to have

  • University graduation in Public Administration, Social Sciences, Criminology, Business Administration, Law, or related degree
  • A minimum of 6 years of related work experience
  • Successful candidates will be required to undergo a criminal history clearance and security clearance check.

An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.

Nice to Have
Preference may be given to candidates that demonstrate one or more of the following:

  • legal background
  • knowledge of the machinery of Government
  • experience with federal/provincial/territorial relations

Wage:
$2,947.00 to $3,920.00 bi-weekly, depending on your education and experience

  • Office location: Marysville Place 20 McGloin Street, Fredericton
  • Office layout: cubicles
  • Your Team: Small team of professionals providing various types of support to senior management and department officials
  • Standard hours of work: Monday - Friday, 8:15-4:30
