The Senior Strategist Innovation and Design will be responsible for supporting the Innovation Incubator, an enterprise capability and new centre of excellence that is focused on reimagining Medavie's services, products, strategies and experiences through human-centred design and collaboration. Human Centered Design and Design Thinking prioritizes the voice of our customers to uncover what truly matters to them, identify their unmet needs, quickly ideate concepts, and test ideas with end users to validate that they are desirable. The Innovation Incubator helps inform and execute strategic initiatives across each customer segment and all operating companies.

The role requires you to have a background in Human Centered Design (HCD), Design Thinking, qualitative research, CX, UX or strategy. If you enjoy understanding and advocating for people, working on leading edge health and wellness solutions, and driving strategies to bring these offerings to Canadians, this may be the role for you.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supports Innovation Incubator engagements and provides consultations
  • Helps drive collaboration of cross-functional teams through design activities and project management.
  • Leads design activities; quantitative and qualitative research; analysis and synthesis; concept development; user and concept testing,
  • Prepare and socialize assets and outputs from design work: research artefacts, storyboards, prototypes, presentations.
  • Helps advance value of Innovation at Medavie - promoting human-centricity, iterative thinking, continuous learning, and innovation
  • Supports the development and delivery of Innovation and Design training within Medavie
  • Demonstrates end user centricity; persistently advocate for the end user
  • Maintains Playbook and uses consistent framework and taxonomy to educate organization on HCD and Design Thinking practices
  • Contributes to team reflection, learning and practice development
  • Tracks KPIs for Innovation Incubator and collaborates on measures of success for each engagement

Qualifications

Education: Minimum - Bachelor's degree; Preferred:- Master's Degree

Work experience: Minimum - 3+ years working as designer (HCD, CX, UX), strategist, qualitative researcher, or a Design Thinking focused role. Preferred - Health care and insurance experience

Must Have Skills:

  • Ability to communicate with and lead a group of individuals through design activities and collaborative exercises.
  • Relevant experience with public speaking, facilitation and workshop development and delivery
  • Understand HCD/Design Thinking methodology
  • Effectively communicate to stakeholders and participants with all levels of knowledge and backgrounds.
  • Understanding of business strategy

Security Clearance: Security Clearance Requirement: In conjunction with our contract with the Federal Government, you will be required to have Reliability Status Clearance (Enhanced Level B) prior to your start date . This includes Fingerprinting, Criminal Record Check, Credit Check and you must have resided in Canada for at least 5 years and hold Permanent Resident or Citizenship Status.
