The Senior Policy Analyst is responsible forproviding strategic policy advice and analysis on a wide variety of policy andlegislative matters to the Workers Safety and Compensation Commission (WSCC),its President, Senior Management Team, and the Governance Council. The SeniorPolicy Analyst leads priority setting, management, and development of WSCCpolicies, directives and drafts briefing notes and decision-making documents.Working under the legislative framework of the Workers Compensation Acts, SafetyActs, Mine Health and SafetyActs, Explosive Use Acts, and Accessto Information and Protection of Privacy Acts, the incumbent is required todevelop and contribute to a wide variety of complex documents for SeniorManagement and the Governance Council to support decisions that impact thebreadth of WSCC stakeholders. The incumbent also sits on the inter jurisdictional panel of Workers Compensation Board policy professionals across Canada tocontribute to, monitor, and act on emerging issues that impact workerscompensation and occupational health & safety (OHS) legislation and policy.

  • Identifying priorities for the strategicdevelopment of the Comprehensive Policy Review Plan (CPRP), AdministrativePolicy Review Plan (APRP).
  • Leading the implementation ofComprehensive Policy Review Plan (CPRP), Administrative Policy Review Plan(APRP).
  • Leading and providing expert advice onthe policy consultation and engagement process.
  • Implementing the Regulatory Review Plan.
  • Participatingin inter jurisdictional policy activities and provides WSCCs position andperspective on policies and governing legislation to internal and externalstakeholders.
  • Conductingevaluation and performance measurement of implemented policies to ensureincreased accountability and compliance across WSCC programs and services.

What youbring to the role:

  • A Bachelors Degree in a relatedfield combined with five years of progressive experience in policy and/orlegislative development. Related education includes, but is not limited to,political science, public administration, economics, and businessadministration.
  • Experience with workerscompensation or OHS policy and legislation is an asset.
