Meridia Recruitment Solutions has partnered with Westmorland Fisheries Ltd, to recruit a Human Resources Manager to join their team in beautiful Cap-Pelé, New Brunswick.

Westmorland Fisheries started off as a small, family-owned fish plant whose founders believed that their word is their bond. Role Description:

Reporting to the Executive Vice President, the Human Resources Manager will provide consultation, advice and support to management, supervisors and staff on issues relating to employee relations, payroll and benefits, policy interpretation, occupational health and safety, as well as recruitment and the Temporary Foreign Worker program, and performance management. More importantly, you'll play a key role in developing, enhancing, and implementing HR and OHS programs and initiatives while being a strong champion of diversity, equity and inclusion and an advocate for health, safety & the environment.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Work with the leadership team to set objectives and priorities in all Human Resources & Health and Safety functions, gathering and maintaining relevant data to monitor and report on key metrics;
  • Oversee and manage all aspects of the UGK payroll system, ensuring accurate and timely processing of employee compensation, compliance with federal/provincial regulations, and alignment with organizational policies;
  • Lead the performance management process by owning the Lattice tool, and supporting supervisors in having productive performance-related conversations with their employees;
  • Oversee recruitment and hiring of new employees, direct and advise internal team on Temporary Foreign Worker applications and documentation as well as working with external agencies for international recruitment needs to ensure forecasts of recruitment demands, human capital requirements and timing are met;
  • Coordinate with immigration contacts within government agencies and otherwise, stay informed of all immigration related news and requirements in Canada and, when necessary, attend immigration related events, ensuring compliance with various immigration programs;
  • Develop safety-related initiatives and best practices in collaboration with the OHS Consultant;
  • Lead incident investigations, ensuring timely, thorough, and compliant resolution of workplace incidents, and collaborating with internal stakeholders to implement corrective actions and prevent recurrence;
  • Ensure compliance with applicable labour regulations and internal policies & procedures including timely addressing of employee requests and grievances;
  • Support ESG reporting efforts, ensuring accurate collection, analysis, and disclosure of workforce data to meet internal goals and external regulatory requirements;
  • Contribute to a positive and harassment-free working environment that provides fair and equitable treatment for all employees.

Qualifications:

As the ideal candidate, you are a people-oriented HR professional with the ability to build relationships and support people leaders on any HR-related matters. You are passionate about organizational development and creating a culture of safety, using data to guide your decision-making process. Your qualifications will include:

  • Post-secondary education with an emphasis in Human Resources, Business Administration/Commerce, or similar;
  • Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in a Human Resources role, with demonstrated expertise in a broad range of HR functions;
  • Previous experience in a manufacturing environment would be considered an asset;
  • CPHR designation would be considered an asset;
  • Demonstrated experience implementing and promoting best practices in HR & OHS, fostering a positive, respectful, and inclusive work environment;
  • Strong knowledge of current employee rights, laws, and regulations relevant to the position and concerning legal requirements regarding employment and privacy;
  • Ability to identify developmental needs of employees and to provide coaching, mentoring, and other assistance;
  • Experience and sound knowledge of international recruitment and immigration process and best practices;
  • Bilingual (French and English) would be an asset;
