Job Summary
Licensed Practical Nurses (LPN) are valuable members of the interdisciplinary health care team within the Ambulatory Care Program. The LPN I in the Ambulatory Clinics is responsible for the delivery of care in a variety of clinical areas in an outpatient setting. The LPN I, within their individual scope of practice, is responsible for providing wound care; administering medications; ordering, preparing and administering intravenous therapy; monitoring the patient's condition before, during and following procedures; recognizing and responding to urgent or emergent patient care situations and/or patients at risk; completing health assessments; educating patients and family members in relation to common disease processes, medications and/or treatment regimes; and performing other related duties as required.

Regularly requires physical exertion and handling, moving, pushing or pulling objects between 10 ? 15 lbs and occasionally required to support, lift or move patients/objects up to 30 lbs.
Regularly required to work in awkward cramped positions (bending/kneeling/stretching) and constantly standing and moving about.
Regularly pushes and pulls objects using light to medium forces and stands and walks.
Regularly requires visual concentration to give medications, read orders/referrals, patients? charts/document, observe and treat patients combined with time pressures and deadlines.
Job Qualifications
Successful completion of an approved Licensed Practical Nursing program.
Current licensure with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Newfoundland and Labrador (CLPNNL).
Current BLS certification is required.
Demonstrated strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Demonstrated ability to maintain effective working relationships.
Demonstrated initiative and the ability to work independently.
A valid Newfoundland and Labrador Class 5 Driver's License and the use of a private vehicle are conditions of employment.
A satisfactory record of work performance is required.
