The College is currently seeking a dynamic and competent individual for the position of Instructor, Registered Nurse, Clinical (Casual), in the delivery of the New Brunswick Canadian Educated Nurses Re-entry/Internationally Educated Nurses bridging program (NB CRIB). Position Type: Casual (up to 36.25 hours per week)

Duration: October 2025 to March 2026

Location: Saint John

Salary Range: $33.85 to $47.70 per hour. Successful candidates may be eligible for a higher maximum step, up to $52.08 per hour, based on their level of post-secondary education.

Responsibilities

As part of School of Health and Wellness, and reporting to the Academic Chair of Allied Health, the successful candidate is responsible for establishing and managing a positive learning environment; instructing and evaluating students in the clinical setting; building and sustaining professional relationships with students, colleagues, community partners, and stakeholders; as well as other related duties.

The successful candidate will have the knowledge, skills, and ability to teach, supervise, counsel, guide and evaluate Registered Nurse students in the acute medical-surgical hospital clinical setting. They will provide opportunities for students to develop and integrate professional knowledge, skills, and values based on the expectations of entry-level registered nurses in the Canadian healthcare system. Competencies that are evaluated in the clinical setting are not limited to:

  • Utilizing professional practice standards to provide compassionate, ethical client-centered care.
  • Utilizing the nursing process to create and prioritize the plan of care for multiple clients.
  • Demonstrating effective application of nursing procedures and skills to optimize patient outcomes.
  • Implementing professional communication techniques that ensure continuity of care.
  • Participating in the admission, transfer, and discharge process to ensure the continuity of care.
  • Recognizing improvement strategies to enhance the quality of care and ensure client safety across healthcare settings.
  • Pursuing learning opportunities and demonstrating progression through ongoing participation and experiential learning.
  • Practicing according to the policies, procedures, and standards of the health care institution and NBCC.

The successful incumbent will be willing and able to integrate technology and active student learning techniques into teaching practices. They will be responsible for planning and preparing instructional materials and resources; establishing and managing a positive learning environment; instructing and evaluating students; building and sustaining professional relationships with students, colleagues, community partners and stakeholders, as well as other related duties.

Qualifications

Education/Experience:

  • A Nursing Degree with a minimum of three (3) years of recent acute care nursing experience and must be currently registered with the Nurses Association of New Brunswick or be eligible for registration, and in good standing.
  • Preference may be given to candidates with a Master's Degree in Nursing or Education, and who have experience teaching in a post-secondary environment.

Assets:

  • Preference may be given to candidates who have experience teaching in a post-secondary environment.

Other combinations of education and experience may be considered as equivalent. Subject to competition response, the minimum qualifications may be raised.
