The Opportunity
We are currently seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to join our Maintenance Engineering & Reliability Team in Long Harbour, NL. Relocation to the province of Newfoundland & Labrador will be required for this role.
This is a permanent on-site position, working a 4x10s Monday to Thursday schedule at our Long Harbour Operations Site.
As a Senior Electrical Engineer, you will be responsible for on-site technical maintenance support, engineering, screening/scoping, repair scopes of work, and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives within the Long Harbour Processing Plant. Your experience and skills will aid in conducting and coordinating engineering field and/or integrity assessments to make sure the assets are running without defects.
Additionally, in this position you will:
- Supports operations and execution teams to conduct Continuous Improvement Projects related to operating or maintaining assets while making recommendations for improving the repair cycles on assets. This includes applying existing engineered solutions or Vale engineering standards.
- Conducts initial Engineering screening and scoping for engineering requests at the site.
- Coordinates with Operations, Procurement, Maintenance, Project Engineering, OEMs as required.
- Applies value analysis (cost vs. benefit) in making maintenance decisions concerning repair, replacement, or redesign of equipment and systems.
- Updates equipment O and M plans to optimize its life-cycle strategies and improve plant performance and maintain a precision maintenance library for use in PM updates
- Supports the maintenance management teams to ensure the work packages are executed as per design.
- Identifies and escalates all critical issues that threaten the successful execution of work orders for completion by their Required End Date.
- Monitors KPIs and actively strives towards plant targets.
About You
Education:
- A Bachelor of Electrical Engineering Degree is required.
- A Professional Engineering Designation (P. Eng) from PEGNL is required.
Experience:
- Minimum of 4 years of experience (post P. Eng) as an Electrical Engineer.
- Previous experience as an Electrical Maintenance Engineer would be an asset.
Skills:
- Ability to solve complex problems.
- Able to provide electrical engineering expertise and technical guidelines to their team.
- Keeps up to date with research and knowledge regarding new technologies.
- Able to work with minimal supervision while acting like a mentor to more junior employees.
