Program Coordinator - Navigation Lead, Practice Ready Assessment - New Brunswick (PRA-NB)

Description

The College of Physicians and Surgeons of New Brunswick (CPSNB) serves and protects the public by regulating the practice of medicine in the province. With over 20 employees, the CPSNB is currently seeking a Program Coordinator - Navigation Lead for the Practice Ready Assessment - New Brunswick (PRA-NB) program.

Key Responsibilities

We are looking for a detail-oriented, motivated and culturally aware Program Coordinator-Navigation Lead to play a key role in supporting the Practice Ready Assessment New Brunswick (PRA-NB) Program. This position assists Internationally Trained Physicians (ITPs) throughout their selection, assessment, and transition into family medicine practice in NB. The coordinator works closely with program leadership, clinical sites, and healthcare teams to facilitate logistics, coordinate orientation and training activities, and maintain clear communication between candidates and health care stakeholders. Additionally, the coordinator supports clinical teams in fostering culturally safe and welcoming environments, helping ITPs successfully adapt to their new clinical settings during the assessment through to the critical early months of practice.

Below is an outline of key responsibilities:

International Physician Transition & Practice Preparation

  • Guide IMG candidates through regulatory assessment logistics, orientation, and onboarding.
  • Offer responsive, culturally sensitive support throughout the candidate journey.
  • Provide clear communication and coaching to ensure expectations are understood and met.

Stakeholder Collaboration

  • Liaise with clinical sites, assessment coordinators, and medical teams to coordinate IMG placements.
  • Support clinic teams in preparing for and welcoming IMG physicians into their environments.
  • Facilitate awareness-building sessions and help local teams foster inclusive, team-based approaches to integration.

Building Cultural Awareness and Safety

  • Promote the importance of cultural safety in assessment and clinical practice settings.
  • Serve as an advocate for ITP's and ensure that equity and inclusion are embedded throughout all program activities.
  • Address systemic challenges through thoughtful recommendations and stakeholder engagement and collaboration.

Program Administration & Reporting

  • Coordinate documentation, scheduling, evaluations, and reports.
  • Maintain up-to-date records of candidate progress and program milestones.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement through data tracking and feedback analysis.

Critical Thinking & Problem-Solving

  • Apply strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills to anticipate issues, navigate complexity, and resolve unexpected challenges empathetically.
  • Demonstrate flexibility and creativity when troubleshooting placement issues, interpersonal concerns, or complexities.
  • Be proactive in identifying opportunities for innovation or efficiency, particularly in evolving clinical, regulatory, or integration contexts.

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in health administration, education, social work, public health, or a related field.
  • 2-3 years of experience coordinating programs in healthcare, education, or newcomer integration.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Bilingual - English/French
  • Familiarity with newcomer support resources.
  • Proven experience building relationships with diverse stakeholders and facilitating collaborative partnerships.
  • Strong understanding of cross-cultural communication and professional integration challenges.
  • Willingness and ability to learn how to work effectively and collaboratively within a fast-paced, dynamic multidisciplinary team environment.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Commitment to equity, inclusion, and cultural safety.
