Requirements:

  • High School diploma or G.E.D. required.
  • Must hold a Class 5 driver's license
  • Awareness of occupational hazards and safe work habits to work in a busy municipal environment.
  • Ability to work after hours, function as an on-call employee, and work shift work if required.
  • The ability to work with a team as well as individually and to follow instructions of a foreman and /or supervisor
  • NB Class three (3) driver's license with E endorsement (air brakes) would be considered an asset.
  • Include a copy of your driver's abstract and license as it is required to consider your application.

Join our team as a Permanent Labourer with our Parks & Trees Department in Fredericton!

As a casual labourer with the City of Fredericton, you will be a vital member of the Parks an Trees Division, contributing to the health and beauty of Fredericton. Under the direction of the Supervisor at Parks & Trees, you will perform a variety of labour tasks within the division, which is physically strenuous in nature and involves the use of hand tools and/or manually operated equipment. Assignments will require the operation of Municipal vehicles. The ideal candidate will be a team player comfortable working in outdoor environments to support the beautification and upkeep of public spaces.

What You'll Do:

  • Perform functions consistent with construction and maintenance of parks, trails, sports fields and public spaces.
  • Performs related work as required.
  • Ability to work after hours and shift work as required.
  • Material handling with loader and tandem truck.
  • Manufacturing of compost and topsoil.
  • Care, maintain and operate equipment used to perform required duties.
  • Loading tandem trucks and dump trailers.
  • Position duties require heavy physical exertion.
  • Working in a team environment or individually, as required.
  • Perform other required duties of the division to a proficient and safe manner.
  • Required to work in all weather conditions.

What You Bring:

  • Positive contribution to your team and coworkers.
  • Strong desire to work on a team to accomplish goals.
  • Knowledge of occupational hazards and the safety precautions necessary in work assignments.
  • Well developed interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Loader Truck and /or/tandem truck experience is an asset
  • "E" endorsement ( Air brake) would be considered an asset.
