JOB PURPOSE
The Audiology and Speech Pathology Manager is responsible for supervising the staff of the two departments as well as the delivery of assessment, consultation and rehabilitation services for individuals with auditory, vestibular, communication and/or swallowing disorders.
QUALIFICATIONS
- A Masters degree in Speech-Language Pathology or Communication Disorders
- Must be registered and a member in good standing with the Regulatory College of Audiologists and Speech-Language Pathologists of New Brunswick.
- Must be eligible for membership with Speech-Language and Audiology Canada.
- Must have five years of related experience.
- Ability to attend work on a regular basis.
- Ability to perform the duties of the position.
- Good work record.
KEY RESPONSIBILTIIES
The Audiology and Speech Pathology Manager is responsible for:
- Assigning, overseeing, reviewing and evaluating Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology service delivery in the Saint John Area.
- Planning, directing and evaluating therapy programs and services.
- Hiring clinical and non-clinical staff for the two departments.
- Providing staff orientation and coordinating staff development programs.
- Providing mentorship to speech-language pathology staff and facilitating the mentorship of audiology staff.
- Developing and/or ensuring compliance with standards, policies and procedures.
- Conducting performance reviews and overseeing performance management.
- Coordinating and/or participating in student placements.
- Performing the clinical work of a speech-language pathologist.
- Managing the financial resources of the two departments including payroll, payment requisitions, purchase requisitions, service contracts, etc.
- Overseeing the maintenance of the physical space by collaborating with Environmental Services, Maintenance, etc.
- Collaborating with the other Audiology and Speech Pathology Managers and Regional Clinical Leads in developing Horizon wide programs, standards, Quality & Safety projects, and policies/procedures.
- Liaising with ENT staff and their Nurse Manager pertaining to the implementation of the newborn hearing screening program and other Audiology and/or Speech Pathology programs.
