Duties: This is a highly responsible position that provides advanced leadership and professional social work consultation in the Community Support program area including application of the Adult Protection Act. The incumbent performs specialized social work which involves research, policy analysis, and assisting the Community Support management team with policy and program development. The Social Work Consultant will support the Community Support management team by providing detailed knowledge of applicable legislation, policies and procedures, and how they impact delivery of social work service. This position is instrumental in providing leadership and clinical consultation to staff in responding to complex needs of Community Support clients and the community in accordance with the principles and philosophy outlined in the Provincial Strategy for Long Term Care and Community Support Services and other provincial standards and policies related to Community Support programs. The incumbent also provides leadership and clinical consultation for the psychosocial and bereavement service model and will review and implement operational policy and practice contributing to the end of life care services within the Community Support Program and Western Health as a whole. The incumbent will assist with the design, implementation and delivery of orientation and training to address the needs of social workers within the Community Support program or related to professional training initiatives. The incumbent will complete regional needs assessments as required and identity strategic areas for program development as they relate to this population.
Qualifications: An in-depth knowledge of and experience in all services related to Community Support Services is essential. Required ability to complete program analysis and develop strategic directions around the Community Support Program. Demonstrates a strong understanding of the assessment of client needs and clinical risk, development of and delivery of intervention plans, follow-up and evaluation of client outcomes, as well as comprehensive understanding of the Community Support case management model is required. A strong understanding and demonstrated skill in team development and facilitation with demonstrated leadership ability is also required. The incumbent shall demonstrate through the interview process strong analytical, written and verbal communication skills. A Masters of Social Work Degree is required. A minimum of five years? experience in the Community Support Services Program is preferred. Candidates with other combinations of experience, training and personal attributes may be considered. Candidates must provide proof of registration with the Newfoundland and Labrador College of Social Workers. A satisfactory record of work performance and attendance is required for this position.
